Tax Director/Manager

Job Description

Leading boutique CPA Firm located in Houma, is seeking to add a Tax Manager/Director. Title, Salary & Compensation is DOE and commensurate with experience.

What We Look For

If you have experience supervising tax staff in a tax compliance, consulting and advisory firm or are prepared to take the next step in your career to leading the tax department within a tax compliance, consulting and advisory services firm, we are looking for you.  We are looking for someone to lead our tax practice who is highly motivated and experienced in all aspects of domestic taxation with a passion for helping clients in planning and in solving problems.   Being a strong leader is critical to leading our tax department through continual changes in taxation and positioning our firm to efficiently provide service and high value to its clients.

The Position

The Tax Director/Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading the firm's tax team by providing oversight and direction including project management, staff utilization, process efficiency and overall supervision
  • Providing business and individual clients with tax compliance,  planning and consulting services .
  • Researching and providing solutions for complex tax issues and remaining abreast on changes in tax code.
  • Informing staff and clients on trends and developments concerning complex domestic tax issues.
  • Maintaining knowledge and awareness of developments and trends in the offering of tax services in a public accounting context, promoting creative ideas to enhance client service offerings
  • Building existing and new client relationships
  • Recruiting, developing, training and mentoring professional staff.
  • Meeting regularly with business and community contacts to maintain a network within the local market

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting,  finance, economics, or an MBA
  • Certified Public Accountant with active standing
  • 4+ years of experience in federal and state taxation
  • Integrity, dependability, and trustworthiness
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability, strong operational and project management skills, strong time management and follow through skills, and ability to effectively coach staff.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to quickly grasp new concepts and a high desire for lifelong learning
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to collaborate, influence, negotiate and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to review, supervise, and enhance the process and preparation of complicated and complex corporate, partnership, and personal income tax returns.
  • Ability to identify and implement tax planning and tax savings strategies for clients.
  • Proficient in tax research
  • Experience and ability to function using  tax preparation software and solid Microsoft Office Suite skills

Staff Accountant - Tax

  • Providing business and individual clients with tax compliance,  planning and consulting service.
  • Preparing client federal, state and local income, payroll and sale tax returns
  • Contacting clients to obtain information and answers to questions
  • Researching and providing solutions for complex tax issues and remaining abreast on changes in tax code.

A tax organizer can facilitate the process of pulling together your tax information. This basic tax organizer is designed for new clients and allows you to enter your information right on the screen. You can then print the completed tax organizer and fax or mail it to the office. Current clients should contact the office to request a "proforma" tax organizer that includes prior year information and carryover data.
